Taser Parties – What a Stunning Idea?
Recently, a good friend and I had lunch with a female police officer from the Chandler, Arizona Police Department. The reason for the meeting was to explore security issues women face for future What Women Should Know articles.
Normally this is not the type of conversation to have over food, but I was so excited to get an officer’s opinion based on first-hand observations.
While these topics will be covered in future newsletters and on the website, I couldn’t wait to pass along an idea that I found intriguing. We were discussing ways women can defend themselves from potential harm when the officer mentioned buying a personal Taser either through Taser International’s website or at a Taser party.
What a concept? Instead of attending a jewelry, candle or home décor party, why not try a personal protection party where you can buy your own personal Taser C2? I’m in!
As I researched the web to find more information about this concept, both for this article and to perhaps host my own party, I found Shieldher. The organization was created by a local woman who wanted to help women avoid becoming victims. The company reaches out to women who want to protect themselves and their family without using a firearm. According to Shieldher’s website the creator, Dana Shafman, started the company in 2007 after her own personal safety was compromised with not one, but two stalkers in one year. The site and parties not only sell a product but they provide personal safety information and self defense programs such as:
