It’s Challenging

Have you found yourself in a life challenge or trial – not sure which way to turn? Has an event suddenly changed the whole pattern of your life and your plan for the future? Life Challenges can shake you at your very core and place unwanted stress in your life.
With everything that is happening in our economy these days, I’m sure we all have, or know someone that has, experienced a life changing event. A time when we felt there was no light at the end of the tunnel or no matter what we do things just don’t go our way. When faced with this one of the ways I overcome these challenges is to remember the acronym AIR:
• Acknowledge and accept that which you cannot change. Whether it’s getting laid off from your job, money issues, divorce, etc., accept what has happened, take a deep breath, then stand up and take steps to begin moving forward.
• Identify and remove the obstacle that either caused the problem or is preventing you from moving forward. This may make you take a long look at yourself, the situation, causes, etc and determine what you need to do to fix yourself. Ask the tough questions that provoke personal reflection and growth then hold you accountable to begin the healing. Perhaps, there is something you have been ignoring or putting off that now needs to be dealt with in order to move on.
• Restore your confidence and self-worth by solving the little problems first. This will help prepare you for the big challenges that you face. Why not take that class that will make you feel empowered during an interview; or speak with a therapist to help you through the emotional baggage and healing process; or become financially educated so that you don’t make the same money mistakes in the future.
Challenges sometimes provoke positive changes in our lives. So, next time you feel deflated or like you have had the wind knocked out of you; remember A.I.R.
